Happy Thanksgiving!!

 

Just chillin' in North Dakota...literally. When we arrived last night, it was -24 degrees. It's warmed up quite a bit today, so now it's snowing. No outdoor activities for this girl today. We're just relaxing together with cards, pool, food and family. What could be better? I've been trying to upload all day, but internet is a little spotty out here today.

 

Hope your holiday was spent surrounded by people you love. I am so thankful for my family! Better get going.

Day 91 - Pre-Thanksgiving Drive

The day before Thanksgiving and I'm getting a quick oil change before heading off to the great state of North Dakota to spend the holiday with my hubby's parents. We both had to work today, so our start time was a little later than we might have liked. It seems like no matter how long before we know that we're going out of town, we always end up packing right before we leave...oh well. 😀 Just embrace it, right! 

So, this is a first though, I'm posting this from the car, in stop and go traffic, from my new iPhone, while Robyn deals with all the driving stuff. Not being such a great driving companion though, so I won't go on and on. I did want to say something about the new look though. I wanted to try a new layout for the blog, so I'm playing around with it. Maybe after my parents anniversary party, I can spend a little more time and personalize it. It HAS been three months since I started!!!

Day 90 - Party Dress

I have an anniversary party coming up for my parents, their 40th, and I thought I would dress up a little bit. Now, I'm not really a person who wears a lot of dresses, but I want to be. So this is a good start!

Absolutely my least favorite part about living and commuting in Minnesota! This was what my car looked like AFTER I had it running for 20 minutes and then scrapped the windows for another ten minutes! I really do need to pull out a winter coat...

Day 73 - Autumn Improv Quilt Finished!



I've been working on this quilt for awhile. It's my Autumn Improv quilt. Really, it's a sampler of different blocks and techniques that I've been seeing and wanting to try my hand at. I've been in Photoshop world all day today working on a 40th Anniversary Party invite for my parents, so the lighting in this picture is not very good. It is not quite so yellow in person, but I plan to take a few better pictures when I have a minute to get out of my yard to do it. :) It's my most ambitious quilt yet. Really, only my sixth quilt ever, but still. It turned out better than I thought it would, especially when I didn't have a plan when I started.

What better place to kill a few hours than at the mall...and IKEA! The funny thing is, I spent most of my time in one store. Might have to come back and actually look around a bit. Someday when I don't have to hurry to get to the airport. I'm picking up my mom and sister from a trip to Arizona and am even now, waiting for the flight to come in. 

Oh, here they come...gotta go! 

Day 68 - Quilt Hideaway

Changed about 20 bobbins tonight. Totally worth it though because I have a quilted sandwich ready for trimming and binding. Might have to wait a couple days though. Tomorrow is a full day of work, picking up my mom and sister from the airport and voting. Maybe I can squeeze in a trip to the quilt shop and pick up some fabric for binding...
