Day 126 - My Computer

My computer is done. I should say, one of our computers is done. I really want a new one, but the definition of maturity is the ability to delay gratification, right? I'm trying to set up the laptop so I can print off my "big printer", the office is still a mess and I'm still enjoying Christmas music...and that is all after sleeping so late, I don't want to say. I love a day off of work!

Day 122 - Celebrating Christmas

Today we celebrated Christmas with my family and we just had a great time! We always have a great time together and every time we get together, I'm reminded of how insanely blessed I am to have this family! I'm holding on to this Christmas season as long as I can. I've had four of my five days off and am looking forward to having tomorrow to relax and recharge before working Monday and Tuesday, then off for another FIVE days!! Pretty excited about it...can you tell? We'll be sticking around home Wednesday and Thursday and then on Friday heading out to have yet another Christmas celebration. This time with Robyn's family. Another blessing. Not everyone feels that way about "the in-law's", but I am so happy to be able to call my husband's family my own!

If I don't stop writing, I might not get this posted today. Also, I need to get to bed! Have to get up earlier tomorrow. Can't sleep until 10am two days in a row! (I love vacation!)

BTW...these were the yummy treats we had to just snack on BEFORE the amazing turkey and ham dinner my parents put on today. I'm getting a little hungry just looking at this picture again.

Day 119 - Finished Quilt

Last spring, my niece was over for the weekend and I gave her a little lesson in quilting. She really seemed to take to it and we worked on what we dubbed a "wonky quilt". We were just rummaging thru my scrap bin and sewing random bits of colorful fabric together any way we felt like it. She did extremely well and I must say, I was impressed. We worked together and by the end of the weekend, we had a little quilt about 36 inches square (a bit wonky of course). It was meant to be a baby quilt for someone else, but I decided that it really should go to Zoe. She is not a baby, so it obviously needed to be a bit larger and over the course of the last 8-9 months, I've been working on it and adding bits here and there. Well, this morning, while visiting with my parents and my hubby, I finished it. It still needs to be washed so it can get all crinkly and snuggly, but I like to take a couple pictures before a quilt has been washed. This is a little sneak peek for you. I'll post a picture of the whole quilt after I've given it to her. This is such a special quilt to me, I hope it will be a special quilt for her too.

In less than 2 hours it will be Christmas here...if it is Christmas where you are already, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! I hope you have a great day wherever you are! Thanks for stopping by my little blog.

p.s. Do you see that we will NOT be having a white Christmas this year?! At least it allowed me to take a few pictures in the yard without bundling up too much though. :)

Day 118 - Christmas Vacation

Today is the first day of my Christmas vacation...and what am I doing? Finishing the Christmas cookies I started Sunday! I've worked two ten hour days so I can take Friday off and have myself a five day weekend!! I can't even say how excited I am about it. I've got the cookies to frost (with a new frosting process btw), a present to finish by Saturday and a couple to wrap. Then there are games to play, Christmas movies to watch, meals to make, calls to place and family to enjoy. Did I mention the sleeping in? Sorry about the lighting on this picture, it gets so dark in the winter and with going to work in the dark and coming home in the dark, dark pictures are hard to avoid. Maybe I should add to my list...pictures to take (in the daylight!!).

Hope you have a very Merry Christmas! Thanks for stopping by.

Day 108 - Christmas Concert Fun

Robyn and I had a spectacular evening tonight, full of good food, Christmas music and a few funny faces...

We went to see the Michael W. Smith and Amy Grant Christmas concert tonight and I just have two words to say to explain how good it was. Full Orchestra! Wow. It really was so wonderful. We like to go to concerts, but rarely get to go and usually not concerts with full orchestras. Literally ten or fifteen seconds after the orchestra started playing, I was so moved, I started crying. Not sure why, except that music is so powerful and good music can stir the soul and uplift the spirit. I am going to end up saying it was great twelve different ways, so I'll just end here.

By the way, I'm only posting the embarrassing picture on the bottom because it it too hilarious and silly to pass up. ;)

Day 100 - Family Time

Just like real life, I had thought to take a little more time and effort with my post for the big 100th, but my brother and his wife and kids flew in this morning and we're having some family time. Not going to spend too much time posting today. Have a great Friday night!

Day 98 - New Exam

How is it, that you now have to wait forever and a day to get through an eye exam? Weird.

Day 96 - Almost Forgot

Got so wrapped up in choosing pictures for the 40th Anniversary Montage for my parents party that I almost went to bed without posting my picture today. So, here is a late night, last minute, after my bedtime, so tired and just want to go to bed because 5 am will come way too soon photo of a snowflake light that is hanging over my sink. Ahhh...I love Christmas.
